Cinderella | Lord Fancybottom
In June of 2025, I danced my way across the stage in Tupelo Community Theatre’s production of Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella. In the script, I was an unnamed Lord – but in my mind, I was Lord Fancybottom, the fanciest man in the land.
I made my Lord costume for this (seen to the right) using a coat donated to me by Bobby Geno, boots donated to me by Chris Dear (pictured beside me), and various pieces of clothing I already had.
My Cast Bio
Kevin Steele is excited to be joining the cast of Cinderella as a Lord at the Ball and a member of the ensemble! This will be his first time on stage at The Lyric, and second appearance in theater overall after his off-Broadway premiere as Pig-Pen in You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown last year. Kevin is a freelance digital marketer that spends his time building marketing campaigns and websites (like TupeloFairyTale.com), going on sunset walks, and cuddling with his cat, Bubby Janeway. He extends his thanks and love to his person, Christy, and his sister, Anne, for their encouragement and support.

The completed enchanted carriage, made by the talented Charles Truscott, in front of the platform in the royal ball room.
The cast was made up of over thirty people. And we got an article in the Daily Journal! This was my first time taking to a big stage with a speaking role, so it was pretty scary – but also very fun.

I played a few roles, listed here in order of when I appeared as them:
Jacque, a noble Knight guarding the prince.
James Fancycrumb, a piemaker that has a secret and sells pies for way too little. At one point, he (without his pie) follows the crowd out to talk to Prince Topher before the banquet and shouts out “Long Live Prince Topher!“
Lord Fancybottom, a lord of the kingdom who inherited his riches and secretly sells pies in disguise as James Fancycrumb. He is very impressed by all the beautiful women at the royal ball, proclaiming, “This room is filled with some of the loveliest women I have ever seen!“
