Plaids In The Making – Tickets On Sale Now

Welcome back, cool cats and kittens – and step right up, because tickets for Plaid Tidings at the Lyric in Tupelo are on sale now, so snag ’em before they disappear faster than a high note in a key change. We’re just six days away from opening night at Tupelo Community Theatre, and you can feel the fizz in the air every time a door opens.

The Plaids and their trusty crew have been burning the midnight oil, polishing steps, patting down cowlicks, and running those groovy harmonies until the walls hum along. Under the watchful eye of director Jennifer Cummings, the Plaids rehearse entrances, exits, patter, and punchlines, making sure each moment lands like a perfectly thrown bouquet.

With stockings hung and garlands glowing, the Plaids listen to director notes.

Meanwhile, the set has been getting gussied up by our top-notch crew until the stage looks like a Christmas card that jumped right out of the mailbox. Here’s a close up:

The Plaids step “on the air” in style, crooning around a cozy fireplace set trimmed with stockings, Santa hats, and sparkling ornaments

Next, we have a fresh look at “Let It Snow,Smudge’s spotlight number.

No worries – not a single Plaid was harmed in the making of this wintry wonder; just a few scuffed shoes and a lot of laughter.

And finally, let’s talk about my favorite little backstage props: three humble paper airplanes. The moment I arrive backstage, before the first “doo-wah” rings out, I track down three particular pages and fold those flyers just right, then climb up high to set them in place.

Three folded paper airplanes lined up on a backstage fly rail among ropes and metal hardware at Tupelo Community Theatre.
These paper planes are precision props folded before every rehearsal for a key moment in Plaid Tidings

I don’t want to spill the beans about exactly when or how they swoop into the story – but when you see them sail across the stage, you’ll know I had a hand in their flight plan.

That’s the scoop, cool cats. The snow is swirling, the ornaments are twinkling, and the paper planes are ready for takeoff. With only six days left, this show is snapping into place like the final pieces of a jigsaw puzzle.

Grab those Plaid Tidings tickets while they’re still hot off the press, and we’ll see you on Tuesday for the final swingin’ update before the premiere.
