Plaids In The Making – Nine Days To Premiere

Welcome back, cool cats and kittens! Hope you had a happy Thanksgiving! The turkey’s been carved, the leftovers are in the icebox, and we’re sliding back into the holiday groove, daddio.

The Plaids and crew have been camped out at Tupelo Community Theatre, polishing those harmonies until they shine like tinsel under a streetlamp. We’re down to just nine days before opening, and the excitement is snapping in the air like a snare drum. We’ve got a load of sneak peeks for you today.

First, check out the picture above of the Plaids themselves, suited up in those bright red cardigans and ready to croon. That’s our quartet, grinning like Christmas morning and looking every inch the classic harmony group straight out of a vintage TV special. Big thanks to photographer Matt Wyatt for capturing them in their full holly-jolly glory.

Next, check out the Plaids testing out their mics during rehearsal last night:

Then feast your peepers on this photo of the stage on Saturday, right in the middle of a work session on the “Bells” number. The red and green platforms are in place, the big Christmas tree is twinkling upstage, and the fellas are huddled around a rehearsal table.

The Plaids huddle onstage as the Plaid Tidings world comes together piece by piece, turning the TCT stage into a classic Christmas TV special.

You can almost hear the jingle of the bells and the tap of their shoes on the deck. Since that snapshot, more Christmas goodies have sneaked their way onto the set. The whole joint is turning into a cozy holiday postcard.

And speaking of cozy holidays – for the next peek, check it: our sharp-as-a-tack director, Jennifer Cummings, crafted this miniature “On The Air” set by hand, right down to the stockings and candy canes.

Director Jennifer Cummings’ miniature “On The Air” living room gives the Plaids a cozy corner for sharing their stories, complete with stockings, candy canes, and a plaid-trimmed tree.

In the show, this little living room becomes a big deal when the Plaids start opening up about their lives, their dreams, and the things they never quite got to finish. It’s like peeking inside their hearts through a frosty picture window. When the Plaids gather around that scene, the jokes soften, the lights get warm, and suddenly you’re not just watching four singers – you’re visiting old friends.

Stay tuned, cool cats – we’ll be back on Friday with another taste of the Plaid parade as opening night races closer. Just nine days left!
